i will be making a better pipe out of mandrel bends probably next year, along with an X pipe and a single high flow 3' cat with flanges to remove for test pipes for track use. i know i didn't 'do it right' but it sure as hell is better than it was. My o2 sensors are fine as they have a mech CEL fix which keeps them out of the path of the unburnt fuel. i will most likely be adding an x pipe or h pipe. it has a resonator/glasspack and the pipe diameter is stock. what is stupid about it? this is no different than AA's track pipe. Just my take on it after 15+ years of DIY exhaust on a ton of diffrent cars. A smooth bore perforated glass pack from summit racing is under 20 bucks for mild steel.under 100 for SS. Most muffler shops only carry the louvered ones since people who just drive in to the shop normally buy them to use as a muffler not a resonator.

Some are smooth bore with perforations, some have louvers on the inside to catch the air. You have to be careful which type you use. Resonators.Any old glass pack will not work. This will eliminate some rasp and makes the system flow much bettter.

If you do go with a twin pipe stockish setup you need to make an H, or X pipe before the resonators.

If done properly you can build as nice a system without spending a ton of money.But you have to know where to buy the pipe/parts and how to assemble it. He doesn't mind me after 15+ years of having me drag my crap in his shop and tell him what I want done. I then stay there and tell my buddy exactly what I want, and how I want it, as I watch him do it. I have been doing my own exaust systems for years with mandrel bent pipe sections I buy and bring to the muffler shop. If it necks down/crimp bends the pipe it is not a true mandrel bender. They may think they are, but most are not. MOST muffler shops use benders that are not true mandrel bending machines. A true mandrel bent pipe will be 2in all the way through the bend. Crimp bending DOES cause more backpressure and restricts the flow through the bends of the pipe. NOT have them bend the piping on the pipe bender at the muffler shop, that crimp bends the tube. You do need to make sure you buy some TRUE mandrel bent sections to take to the muffler shop with you. Unfortunatly all of you stating that he was stupid/won't work/wrong etc. I absolutely loved the way my UUC TSE sounded with the stock midpipe, but had to do away with the cats. I wonder if i were to heat wrap the first part of the midpipe, where it is just exh pipe nothing else, if it would eliminate some of the resonance. My question is, how long do they generally take to break in? about a week?Дo you guys think they will get to the point where my exhaust sounds like a decently deep rumble again? I got pissed again, thinking i should've had them use 18' glasspacks to be on the safe side, but then i remembered that glasspacks have to break in. RASP!!! sounds like a straight piped honda. now it sounds almost exactly like it did with the stock midpipe until i lay into it at all. so i had them install some SS 12' glasspacks (as resonators) to quiet it down. well, my car sounded like complete ass and i was more than pissed. So i had a local exhaust shop eliminate my cats.they decided to make me a whole new midpipe pretty much.
